Technorati Tags:
  • Open Provider (Plugin) Infrastructure - Contact us by phone or online for details!
  • Access to full range of Windows Live Writer features for all providers written on top of the metaPost infrastructure.  This means that all metaPost providers written for DotNetNuke and third party modules can take advantage of:
    • Keywords
    • Comment Policy
    • Ping Policy
    • Trackback URLs
    • Slugs (SEO friendly, shortened URL titles)
    • Hiearchical Categories
    • New Categories
    • Multiple or Single Category Selection
    • Custom Publish Date
    • Author
    • 3 Levels of Content (Excerpt, Content, Extended Content)
    • Password
    • Pages (Adding, Editing, Deleting and Assigning Parent)
    • Hiearchical Pages
    • Page Order
    • Post as Draft
    • Custom Buttons
    • Branding of Windows Live Writer using Watermarks and Icons
    • Ability to Change Some Default Text used by Windows Live Writer
  • Configure any of these settings for each metaPost provider!
  • metaPost providers can be shipped completely independent of metaPost giving third party and custom module developers complete control over the distribution of their provider.  metaPost will automatically pick up new providers as they are added to DotNetNuke.
    del.icio.us Tags: ,
  • Ventrian News Articles provider for publishing articles with full support for:
    • Adding articles
    • Adding article pages! (We worked hard to get this in)
    • Associating the article with one or more categories
    • Listing and editing the pages of an article
    • Deleting any of the article pages
    • Setting the Favorite and Secure options from WLW
    • Submit as draft or for approval
  • Full styling integration with Windows Live Writer.  See what your posts will look like in your site as you write them!
  • Zero configuration necessary to pull your site styles into Windows Live Writer.  Just click Yes when Live Writer asks if you would like to download site styles.
  • Designed to work in a Medium Trust environment.
  • Pingback and Trackback built into metaPost and made available to any provider which needs to make use of these features.  This adds pingback functionality to the DNN blog module which currently only supports Trackbacks.
  • Open platform designed to provide full access to the Windows Live Writer set of features in a way that makes it easy for third party or custom module developers to bridge the gap between Windows Live Writer and thier custom module.

With your blog configured,

  • Open Windows Live Writer and select the Weblog menu

  • Select the Add Weblog Account... submenu
  • Select 'Another weblog service' and click Next.
  • Enter the URL to the root of the site containing your blog in the Weblog Homepage URL textbox (eg. http://www.itcrossing.com).  Update from Chad Voller:  Chad ran into problems here which I wasn't able to duplicate, but he came up with a workaround for anyone else running into the same issue.  If authentication fails at this point, then enter _41705382_e-mail http://www.yourdomain.com/metapost.ashx.  Thanks for the help with this Chad!
  • Enter the DotNetNuke username and password which has been associated with a blog from the DotNetNuke blog module and click Next.
  • In the dropdown labeled 'Type of weblog that you are using' choose Metaweblog API.
  • For the remote posting URL, enter the URL you entered previously followed by /metaPost.ashx (eg. http://www.itcrossing.com/metaPost.ashx) and click Next.
  • An 'Allow Writer to Create a Temporary Post' dialog will appear.  You can click either Yes or No to this dialog.
  • That's it!  Happy blogging with your DNN blog module.
